  • Fascinating necklace.

  • my understanding is that these necklace are called "silah" in arabic which means something like weapons, shield or armour...obviously matching their use as a protective adornment
  • 2506015204?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024Dear Ala'a; I have just mentioned in my tonight's posting under the other Yemeni necklace, that this particular necklace always comes together with the a necklace, featuring a crescent shaped amulet on it (above photo). This is now already the second time, the two units are offered to me within the same batch. Do you know anything about that? Looking forward to hearing from you. Peter

  • Me thinkx that these are same type of jewels, with the crescent one, reminding me of the Kurdish/Persian  beggar bowls necklaces (kashkul), the additional turquoise stones are undoubtedly a proof of it being used as an evil eye repellent.

I can't comment on your experience of finding them always in a pair, for i don't have knowledge on this being implemented systematically!
