Traditional men’s costume from the district of Silivri (west of Istanbul). Style: people’s militia, ca. 1900. The ‘şalvar’ (trousers), the long-sleeved ‘cebedan’ (vest), and the ‘kartal kanat’ (outer vest with hanging sleeves) are workshop-made machine-embroidered copies (1990), as worn by folk dance groups. The accessories are original (and some of them old): 1900-1960. (Kavak Folklor Ekibi & Costume Collection - Antwerpen/Belgium).
