This bead is typically used on head ornaments. It has very nice old hallmarks from Tripoli. About 2-1/8" (5-1/2cm) long, 2 cm dia.

Here is photo of lady from Ghadames (on western border of Libya with Tunisia) wearing head ornaments decorated with similar beads.
