  • Hello Linda, it is a MIAO hair pin

  • hi  linda,am  SURE it  is  a  miao item

  • Do you know which group?  I have in my Chinese Singapore museum book , they are listed and published as Dai Nationality.  page 279

  • could u  show me  more   pics?the   style   look  like  miao  come  from  Qiannan  guizhou

  • The book is Chinese Nationalities Costumes and Ornaments 2506016274?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024 same as above

  • maybe  am  wrong if  i  see  some  similar  miao  item,i will show  u,thax  for  ur  share

  • museums have been known to be wrong, but so far this is the only time i have seen these. I have many many books with hundreds of Miao groups and none that have this style associated with it.

  • Sorry Linda, I was wrong! Looking in my collection I have not listed I found this hair pin that I have bought in Yunnan and the label clearly indicates the ethnic Dai. There is a  bigresemblance to Miao.

  • Well at least the museum got it right! Things from Yunnan are a bit different , less available also. I only found this pair and the other pair on many trips . There is way more Miao material on the market or was back then.

  • I am glad that this matter is now definitely cleared up  for to me it looked sufficiently different from any of the Miao pieces I know (and there are many) not to have been made by them, The Miao did make ROUGHLY comparable pieces, but with several significant differences all the same. At first sight confusion is understandable, but not upon closer inspection. The piece is also considerably rarer than its Miao counterparts.
