  • Yep, Betty. Lovely pieces in their sort. I can see that they are the antique silver ones.  This quality is rather hard o find.  I bought not so long ago a bundle (12) from french ebay and he claimed them to be Ethiopian silver.(what is ethiopian silver???). Anyway they were pure nickel. Now the question what are they it could be adapted amulets from the jewish tradition which started to get their own life.  Also like in Sarah's pictures they can be worn as head decoration as well as a necklace.

  • Only got time now to look at the Pictures........... lovely pieces, they seem to be good silver and old! I

    Really nice, a good find!

  • some how these remind me of a bundle of wheat!....fertility symbols are always popular!
  • The shapes of these are always the same, but the decoration varies. Bundles of wheat (or perhaps teff :-)  in Ethiopia) is an interpretation that would make much sense with this sample. I have also heard people refer to them as paws or claws or even wings, but others have only horizontal decorations which rather resemble bugs (similar to their Moroccan cousins) as the ones shown below (sorry, the pic is not very sharp):2506011988?profile=originalThey are really still a mystery to me...
