  • I am afraid it is too late to go to Oman for jewelry as they melt down all the old pieces for making new modern jewelry!!  Also prices have gone up through the roof!

  • they have good food too and nice jambias.  even parfum is good there

    thank you for the tip

  • And very friendly people!!

  • me too

  • Yes indeed you are!

  • And the exchange rate is appalling for us !.........

  • marie.  some times, i do a long way, 1000 s of kilometers in sahara and it was in time Algeria was instable. make all the shops and the manufactures, visite my contacts to find one or 2 middel pieces, not a wow pieces. the first time happened to me, i got obscet and angry, had a lot of stress and started running in all direktions.the second time and times after, when i see there is no busines, i start asking about good restaurants and nice places to spend a good holiday. any way the next time inchallah i will find for a sure, if not, spend again a good time and hope for the next trip will be better

  • I understand sometimes it must be very frustrating not to find what you hoped to but your way of traveling now is more relaxed and if there is something special inshallah you will find it.  I love your items so you did very well.

  • Such simple Diggs are really nice too, not all woman got the expensive ones. Only the earrings attached to the rings do not belong to the necklace and the hair braid jewelry from Dhofar does not belong on the earrings, I think.

The silver in Oman is mostly not melted down for new modern jewelry, they want gold jewelry and often in the old designs now!

The silver jewelry is simply nearly finished, all gone to collectors and dealers. In the several visits to Oman I saw it getting less very rapid. But lots of new silver "fakes" (in the old tradition) made in India for the tourists.
