  • Dowry bracelets from the Rif
  • Dowry bracelets from Rif Mountains.
  • Beautiful, never could find them in my size (2.75")

  • Thanks Marie-Ange, it's a squeeze for me but I love to wear them! They're slighty over 2.5"

  • They are easier to get on with a little plastic bag over your hand (or handcream).

  • Thought you may like these pics  of  bracelets like this one being worn... these pics are mostly moyen Atlas Ladies, but I believe that as you correctly say these were worn in the eastern Rif too.

Yours are beautiful pieces...is that a Fes 1925 hallmark?? very rare to see these with marks....nice find!

  • The middle pic is a slightly different style, I think the differeces evolve as we travel geographically south!

  • Great ti re the bags and the cream M-A!!

  • Thank you Sarah for posting the Middle Atlas ladies. I have how the different dowry bracelet styles have evolved. It seems that the southern ones have bigger, taller spirals, maybe pointing to more Saharan and deeper African influences.

I think the hallmark you have noticed is the rams head from Casablanca but there is a Fez tower on another of them. I'm going to post some closeups of hallmarks in a sec.

Great tip from Marie-Ange, thanks. I have resorted to plastic bags on humid days!
