Bead ID please

These beads are a recent acquisition and as bead are not a strong point of mine, I would welcome any input. They were sold as Qajar Dynasty Persian beads. The beads do show great wear, some more than others.

  • in my opinion they are definitely venetian and at least as old as the popular cylindrical trade beads of 1900s. made for the islamic middle east trade.

    that is consistent with the Qajar Dynasty, and could well have been made for Iranian trade.

    the pattern of swirled stripes is often called "feather". oval ones (particularly with a red background) are the best shaped to resemble a feather. unfortunately there are also skilled copies recently made in India, which have small holes. yours which are round or oblate must surely be venetian, though.
