A traditional chin chain, called 'gıdıklık' (= 'thing that tickles the chin'). Part of the festive headgear of young women. From NW Anatolia. To be hooked into the headgear at the height of the temples, by means of the hooks at the top of both small filigree plates. The chains are recent (late 20th century), but the plates and the coins are late-Ottoman (last quarter of 19th century). Purchased in Bursa, in the early 1990s. (Inv.n° müç130 - Kavak Costume Collection - Antwerpen/Belgium).
