Amulet necklace. Heterogeneous origine: Central Asia (Karakalpak or Türkmen) & Kurdish.

Silver ‘muskalık’-necklace (with ‘amulet-holder’). The box is a hexagonal prism, with inscriptions in Arabic on five of its surfaces (one of them being ‘mashallah’ / ‘according to God’s will’).Possibly a heterogeneous jewel: the box could be Kurdish (southeastern Anatolia, northern Syria or Iraqi Kurdistan). The chains and dangles are definitely Central Asian: probably of Karakalpak (western Uzbekistan) or Türkmen (from Türkmenistan or northern Afghanistan) origin. Mid-20th century or earlier. (Inv.nr. müç018-Kavak Costume Collection - Antwerpen/Belgium).
