  Wonderful array!

  in a picture like this it is hard to fully appreciate unless you indicate dimensions -either by including something as a scale, preferably a ruler, or perhaps a coin, or give the length/size of one of the large items in your caption or title... as the dragon-headed hoops on the left could be earrings or are they bangles??

  Hello Stefany,
  The dragon headed rings are a famous Dao or Yao designed silver and enamel pair of bracelets.
  I like this image. I took it a couple of years ago for part of a television ad. Did not think it needed too much info for that situation as it was shown each time for a very short sequence.
  Sorry, maybe I should keep images like this for other places. Usually placing different pieces together does give an idea for scale. I always do that for my clients who are buying multiple pieces online. It helps them to see the scale of each piece they are buying. Very important with African art where they could have an item 2 m tall and another .2 of a metre.
  I will try to forget my pretty pictures and simply upload the more scientific ones with tape measures etc..

  i'm just trying to encourage all the collectors and traders here to think when posting images that not everybody is familiar with the various styles and genres. As you say, scale can be crucial whether you are evaluating, identifying, comparing or trying to buy something. From my point of view its perfectly OK with an image like this to give the length of the longest red tassel, which would give a sense of how fine the engraved circles are on the combs ?

  Thank you Eva, I do have a very extensive collection and love it all - especially the sameness as well as the diversity. It is great to be the guardian of such wonderful items for a time and to have the privilege of sharing them with so many.
  My biggest concern is that they should always be held with respect to the human condition.
  We are all the same and share the same dreams. The people who created these pieces are on the same level as us yet there is still the fear of anyone or anything different between cultures. We need to think and share more than the idea. We need to consider out neighbors as equal and just as worthy as us then there will be true equality for race and colour and we will all be truly the human race and one people.
