Leather-Stripes with Silver-Rings

I bought this one many years ago in the south of Morocco. Maybe it is rather rare, because the first time I saw a similar one again, after more than 40 years, was on a photo from Sarah Corbett. Someone told me that it was used to adorne the head of horses? But the silver- rings and the coins are real silver, I tested it. Does anyone know more about the item?

that is correct, similar pieces are used to adorn horses on their heads, on each side. Sometimes Fulani People use similar items to decorate themselves (men, at the Gerewol Festival), but the Fulani ones are usually more colourful. So I would Support the opinion that they were used for horses (decoration on their heads).
