Hi. I recently bought some beads that were sold to the woman I purchased from as old Afghani silver beads. Neither of us have ever found these before & I was wondering if any of you have come across in your collecting? I would greatly appreciate your thoughts & knowledge if so! the larger more elongated ones are approx 42mm x 2mm. The other size, which appear to me to be perhaps newer are 33mm x 21mm. They are lovely regardless of their origin, but would love to know more. Thanks so much! Lynne (rubyzane)

Thanks Betty!
All in all, they are lovely beads that will look fantastic in any necklace!
Thanks so much for your opinion! The nicest thing is that the seller herself was more concerned that she wasn't certain of the origin of these & that I would be disappointed. How considerate is that? So thanks for your thoughts as well.. lynne
Looking at these again, I believe that the center granulated-cage portion are cast copies based on some "imperfections" that show up in the same place in several beads. The end caps are copies as well and soldered on. The bottom beads with "petal-like" designs on the end caps look suspiciously like contemporary Moroccan beads- fabricated, not cast.
I have seen a lot of cast copies of agarab beads as of late.....
I believe that these are Kazakh. There have been some new copies made recently. Difficult to tell from photos. I do love these, so lovely and intricate, almost organic!
I'm not certain I'm posting this correctly, but this is the 2nd smaller size of the beads....
