Small fibulas of this type are common among pastoralists from south eastern Morocco to north eastern Algeria, in the southern saharan foothills of atlas mountains
They are often used as clasps for headscarves and veils, secure fastener in a way around the braids for example...

You are very welcome. about the small fibs -- what is the stone in them do you think? Garnets? Glass? BTW I see another small fib fastened to the dress of the lady on the right and she appears to have tiny keys hanging from her fib chain.
Nice old photo, i guess south aures until biskra,the small fibulas are amazing, there is some semilar ones with aures khamsa, rare pieces, i ll try to add a picture

I notice that the girl on the left has a couple of simple fibulas tucked up by her neckline. I guess she needed a couple of extra to hold her cape.
