Marriyah Necklace - Sur-Oman

When I bought this necklace in an antique shop in Amman, the owner of a world famous fashion house and ethnic jewelry collector was also visiting the shop. He spent a fortune during his visit and the owners, manager, etc., including some famous Jordanian/Palestinian collectors were around to assist. The manager of the shop has reserved this Marriyah necklace as well as another rather rare Omani necklace for me and asked me to wait with them in the office as he wanted to take care of the other gentleman first, who was just buying and buying and buying... At one stage, he came into the office and tried to look at these two necklaces. However, I defended my pieces by standing simply in front of them, not letting him see anything... This of course with a polite smile on my face.... However, when having money and influence, it does not necessarily mean that one is getting always the nicest pieces. • Dear All; Many thanks for your comments. I have also two double row Marriyah necklaces. One I have posted on this site a couple of months ago. The other one I have to clean first. However, I am leaving tomorrow morning back to Switzerland to continue with the process of the Saudi visa application - a very lengthy process. I will receive the medical report from my doctor tomorrow and then I have to go to 4 (!) ministries and institutions to legalize the same. Thereafter, the same with the Hotel School diploma. I have already postponed my return flight by 2.5 weeks! I hope to be able to visit my home in France before returning to Saudi Arabia. If I do, I will post a photo of the Marriyah necklace. With kind regards. Peter
  • I love your story behind this necklace.  It's gorgeous!!  Do you keep part of your collection with you where you work in Saudi Arabia?  I hope the visa process goes well for you.
