Lovely creation Betty, This pendant is new for me, exciting. and draped on a beautiful Ethiopian shawl.
Chapeau!
Oh! This wonderful! A joy to behold.
Thank you Ingrid and Toya.
The focal piece (very large ca. 10 x 19cm) I chased for a long time. It used to be part of a complete necklace with three more single pendants as a counterweight (alas, too expensive for me). Sadly the seller took it apart after a while and sold some of the components. When offered for a reduced price, and some haggling I got it for a reasonable sum. It is not good silver, but a rather strange mix I have also seen in some telsum and in components of Muria chokers. I don't no if it is possible to silver and aluminium, but that is what it looks and feels like to me.
And yes, the shawl I found on my last trip to Addis! It's a lovely colour...
Wow, Betty. This is SO elegant. I didn't know you created jewels. And the pendant is superb. I'm sure you'll wear that many times :))
WOW congratulations Betty. it s so perfect. i like the combination with the old red bead. nice nice, you should prepare a colection and do an exhibition or show
Thank you Thelma and Ait. At this stage I just create some necklaces for myself. I have many loose bits I collected over the years, and no time and make sth. nice out of them. This necklace just "came" to me. It was put together in no time, but still requires a more permanent stringing.
And, yes, it's fun to wear it, though some people give you strange looks ;-))
Really beautiful and sensitive to the cultural context. Did you do the loop-in-loop chains or did they come that way?
