A very old "sea ivory" bracelet from Savu

The way the ivory is cut and shaped for bracelets of this type creates a pair of "eyes" on the edges of the bracelet, on either side of the splits where wood pegs are used to allow the bracelets to be opened and closed again.

These type of bracelets are pretty rare. I have one left , had two they are small though and are collectors items only hard to wear although at one point they fit me , won't say how long ago!
