Papua New Guinea Wealth Ornament/ Armband

A good example of jewellery from Papua New Guinea. I think it is a pity that so few people on "ethnic jewels" seriously look at Oceanic jewellery, for it is very much worth knowing, and has great variety. There is also still much left to explore. Truus's chapter on Oceanic jewellery is by itself more extensive, with more great pieces, than even the few specialist books on the subject. Already, more than one dealer has thanked her for publishing pieces that they otherwise could not identify.

Calder eat your heart out! or a good baby mobile .. or looking like a Tibetan protection * they use similar style items in Ladakh outside houses so that evil spirits will get caught and not come inside.

bracelet shape is there. I'm wondering since my research doesn't show any Philippine wearing this style of cuff at all, wonder if when they came out a long time ago (late 70's and 80's) if they were never from the Philippines and always from PNG? Maybe the whole notion of them ever being from there is wrong? I have only seen that shape at top being Philippines.. the ones I have seen in market for years now with Hamson and others are the ones with wider bulge. Just like when conch cuffs with a particular shape are from the Himalayas. and not from PNG there is a definitive style.
