Multan rings

Three old and worn Multan rings from Pakistan. Definitely not museum quality, but I appreciate the liveliness of the pieces.

  • Me too!
  • Yes, I agree, Sigrid. While many pieces from Multan are blue, rings are an exception, and their colours are varied. The style, however, seems rather different from that of the bangles/anklets, doesn't it. I wonder, also, whether the variety of colours chosen may be a survival of earlier rural traditions (surviving more strongly in Sindhi work), while the rather sickly and refined plaques which are all blue are more in a later, urbanised and Arab vogue. Might this be credible, I wonder?? In truth, such books as I have seen do not really tell us ENOUGH. They do help, but should do more!!

  • Love the long one!!
