  • This is a Berber piece from Essaouria in Morocco, can you find hallmarks?
    The rose in the centre is he clue it is the symbol of the coastal town.

  • HI Becky,
    The rams head is exactly what i would expect.
    I use a loupe, to view the hallmark. If you rub a wet finger over the mark is it easier to see! with a loupe you may see a tiny letter M to one side of the rams head. If the M is present this is the Marrakech assay, An F is the fes assay. It is really tiny, so may be tricky to see without magnification.
    I would expect the piece to bear a Marrakech mark.
