If you would like to know what a hornbill looks like, here it is!

This magnificent creature is endangered.  The dayak traditionally use the hornbill bird to make their ceremonial ornaments.  The hornbill ivory was particularly prized to make pendants and earrings.  Although the species is protected, the Dayak have special permission to continue to hunt and use the bird.  Here is an earring made from hornbill ivory.
