  • thank you for all the infos and photos. specialy the woman with jewelry, it is amazing as akkie wrote.

  • Amazing necklace. Looks like she has a pair of the defence bracelets, one on each arm.

  • Well, this has less to do with Zar than with the Rashaida, I just found this wonderful old pic of a Rashaida lady online and cannot help but share it with you -- Lots of the jewelry we have already seen before, but get a load of her necklace -- I don't think I have ever seen one that big except, perhaps, on Turkoman ladies. It looks very heavy and very Gulf. Has anybody every seen such an immense piece in person?Rashaida-Woman.jpgI note that she is also wearing a defense bracelet on her right arm and the usual Rashaida, Horn bracelets on her left.

  • You are welcome, Sigrid's site is so educational and beautiful. I had the pleasure of traveling with her at one time and she is very knowledgeable, especially about magic squares. Wish we could hear from her more!

  • That is so interesting Patricia. Thanks for pointing me to that article from Sigrid's site.

  • E kenoz sometimes has zar in his shop --some of the pieces have figures, some do not, so that may indicate that Nada's bracelet is well within the zar tradition.!B60K)4g!2k~$(KGrHqEOKo4Ey+jCy+DNBMydbPVJnQ~~-1_1.JPG

  • Here is a zar bracelet taken from her site.Zar-bracelet-300x199.jpg It is interesting, she indicates that the Rashaida do wear such bracelets as do people near the Red Sea, so Nada's attribution was correct.
