An appreciation of ethnic jewellery and adornment

hello lovely peops. I have this wonderful old Moroccan hamsa and the symbols are really intriguing me. I am trying to find out all about it. Apparently the four petalled rose on a door means the house belongs to Christians. Does anyone think that it means that it is a Christian hamsa!

I think that this may be a piece from between Talouine and Agdz, the petals are a symbol which i have seen there often 6 petals , but not always......

i think that it is completely unlikely to be a christian symbol.

Perhaps the hatchings and crosses are more like the fertility symbols on carpets denoting male and female - the crosses and the hatchings and the four petalled flowers are human figures or womb type things containing male and female signs... perhaps a couple...
