the earrings are very fragile thin gilt metal looking like whipped cream! in different sizes, and each pair has its own custom made box of stiff hide.

This is a recent posting on ebay -- it is called a Nigerian water jug pendant. I have been unable to locate any reference at all to it online. Does anybody have any ideas? Looks a little like a tcherot to me.
I know this very expensive piece from ebay is Kabyle but I am confused about the shape-- is this an isolated pendant or was it worn as part of a grouping of pendants in a headdress or some other piece of jewelry?
