Phenolic amber or ressin beads.

Posted on April 27, 2014 at 20:30 8 Comments

The Ethiopian beads are what I think made of resin.  They start out in the yellow color, now if these are worn  through the years by women, sometimes even cattle, because they believe strongly in the power of the amber bead, they slowly turn to the color red due to the heat of the skin and the sun.  Ones a trader of Ethiopia and me boiled…

Aloha Ingrid,

I just now realized that I am following you on Etsy. You have a fantastic collection. Thank you for messaging me! It's good to know you.

I plan sell my entire collection so that I can raise some extra money to travel a bit. I need to have it valued, so may do this through ethnic jewels as there aren't any knowledgeable appraisers on Maui.

Thank you for befriending me.  Have a fantastic day!

Meg

I think this is good! .........

Its me .       If I can achieve 3500 euro then Id like to sell the necklace ......common sense tells me that you are the lady who could help me achieve this ........so would you consider doing this?  I am not a wealthy man but id be happy to pay you somehow if youd be willing to consider doing so.

I completely understand if you would rather not - so i wont be upset if you say "no"    So no haste and no pressure from me!   R

Dear Ingrid, Yes, you will find the photo if you are a friend of mine. I was of the opinion that we are already friends otherwise I would have invited you. I usually change my photos to be seen by my friends only after a couple of weeks. I do not want my photos ending up on the open Web. With kind regards. Peter

Thanks Ingrid, I hope the paper does prove helpful. There are still a lot of unanswered questions about the meanings and purpose of the symbols on the Jimma rings; less has been written about them than the Tuareg ones. Incidentally, I cited some of your Jimma ring photos (on Ethnic Jewels) in note 17 of the paper.
