jewelry collection at year's end- verdigris

Every three or four months I inspect each piece of my collection for corrosion or verdigris. I think that is a very good idea for anybody with an extensive collection that they cannot keep in touch with on a daily basis. This time, I discovered some verdigris on a couple of my older pieces which had been stored in the same package, this told me that I had stored them wrong, not allowing enough airflow to get to them and that I had not allowed them to dry after I had cleaned them the last…

Here is an interesting element I recently found on ebay. I was drawn to it because it looks so much like Edith D's avatar on ethnicjewels. It is described as a blue face  or god face pendant. Anybody know about these?

Rare, damaged karakalpak tumar

i was astonished to see these two rare and very old Karakalpak tumars available on ebay this morning. The are unusual enough to deserve at least a look and actually probably belong in a museum. They are both tumars, both parts of a Ha'ykel., a pectoral amulet case for a woman and both very old. I am assuming they are a part of the same Ha'ykel. Karakalpak jewelry is extremely hard to find in the west -- and even in Uzbekistan is hard to see outside a museum. What impresses me so much in…

I have always been interested in all things ethnic and beads too.

I can remember stringing apple seeds up and waring them on my arm as a little girl. But happy to say that my that my taste have changed.
