Currently there are two loubane "amber" necklaces up for auction on eBay - see items no.111471211129 and 111471215504 by the same seller. I understand loubane to be a translation of the english gum arabic, which is derived from the resin of two variants of acacia tree, and which has many and varied uses in industry and as a constituent in comestibles.
Is anyone able to tell me if the description loubane is ever applied to any other resin or even types of plastic or phenolic…

Hi Frankie,
Thanks for the comment on the Kuchi necklace. I bought it from an Afghan whose family members have been in the jewellery business for several generations in the northern region of Afghanistan. I agree it is quite unlike the Kuchi ornaments one sees these days and it would be interesting to find out if similar pieces exist.
Frankie, I love your collection, I also love your sense of humour.
Thank you for being my friend. Fauzi must be something else if he is better than that necklace of the khamsas.......................
Hello Frankie Carter thanks to be my friend . i accept your request .
Hello Frankie Carter, Pleasure to have you in my friend's list.
Best Wishes
Hi Frankie,
Yes, I am from Marseille, (well I spent there most of my youth) and I return there quite regularly...I love the old place and the surrounding countryside and its wonderful history, rich in all sorts.....I followed with great interest your hilarious "misadventures" with the unfortunate Tibetan bracelet ! (I think I said somewhere that I liked it a lot in spite of the attacks from every quarters it has been subjected to............). I think you've beaten the VIEWING records...........Well Done (it was worth every penny if only for this! Am sure that the British crown jewels never received so much interest from such varied quarters!) . Well done and enjoy it. (I cant wait for you to post the one you are expecting..........Will you be brave enough? I am not sure I would be........you never know how the third world war will be triggered!......... )
Am sorry I delayed in answering, I must have forgotten, no excuse really.
Chantal
