Have always wondered whether the Romans had embroidery on their toga(s).............and if so what they would have looked like (apart from the well known red band, signs of class/social status.). Difficult to detect embroidery on scuplture or mosaic representations.......Cant remember whether Pompei remaining  paintings  give any clue........Anyone has any idea?

I love these too. they are worn by HAUSSA people i guess but one can find many related outfits in style all over west african regions that have had islamic influences

Of all the textiles in Alan Donovan's house, this is one of my favourites.  It is exquisite.

I don't know the name of them and whether from Ghana or Nigeria?
