I purchased a Yemeni one of the type in Cairo last year. The coral beads around the pendant reminds me of other Yemeni pieces - perhaps this one came from close to the border with Saudi? Photo below.

I made a tremendous mistake, it comes from WESTERN Saudi Arabi and not eastern province as i mentionned before.
I just checked Marjori ransom book on yemeni jewels and she says it comes from the city of TAIF near Mecca!
I wonder why she would locate it there when she has got much expertise on yemeni silver....possibly because it is not Yemeni!

But again jewels travel, and i clearly seet it being made in Saudi by a yemeni smith for saudi women...Ransom clearly states that such commission work did exist in the Saudi city port of Jeddah where thrives a large Yemeni community

the work is yemeni or yemni style, here, the introduction of the turquoise and the small dangles make it saoudi or madi in / for saudi markt.
i guess it was the same sampleas the one from Prethi, the difference is in the turquoise ,the dangles and the corail around that is missing but the holes are still there. it is normal, smiths ahve saples that they do always the same.

similarly this mask is an issue too as Marjorie didn't recognize it , yet I see it as being same as headdress work published in her book by Wasabi smiths, maybe also for Saudi use.
I see pendant also being similar to work above as well the use of inlaid stones was done also as per above photos
These pendants are from Northern Yemen and bear similarities with my piece as far as the type of over all decoration and technique as well the Alaa and Preethi pieces

Or the pendant may be a Bedouin piece that has undergone local modifications - turquoise cabs in Saudi, coral beads and silver balls in Yemen?
