Traditional festive costume (close-up) - Balıkesir (central district) / Turkey.

Close-ups of a traditional festive costume from the central district of the Balıkesir province. Dating: 1925-1950. The trousers and long-sleeved vest in striped silk, and the velvet jacket are embroidered (‘golden’ thread in ‘kordon tutturma’ technique/applied cord). The jewelry dates from the early 20th century. (Kavak Folklor Ekibi&Costume Collection-Antwerpen/Belgium).
