  • Very interesting and beautiful piece, Paul. I like it very much.

  • I love it. and great photo, very clear.

  • Beautiful Paul.  Love the eclectic beads and coral.

  • A great, old piece!

  • These are great and rare but i do believe these are rather from across the border with Algeria (like most of the braid ornaments with coral on offer in Morocco)...Say Adrar, Saoura valley, Colomb bechar.....

Coins are ottoman era coins in the name of Sultan Mahmud Khan (the second) mint in Algiers (1808-1839).

This ornament is possibly that old but could be later as coins were used as legal mint until that Territorry came under french Rule by 1903.

Older pieces always have ottoman and Spanish coins

I have still to confirm it by a photographic source but these were pinned on the side braids

  • Dear Paul; I am not a specialist in Moroccan jewelry but in my opinion, this piece is stunning! I just love these different coins and beads. This piece has definitely lived and I love it. Congratulations. Peter

  • I love this. Such a beautiful amulet. What is the centre made of? It looks like a little box ... perhaps to hold something?

  • Dear Thelma,

i think that the center is like a little box who is open on the backside, to put organic material, like amber, or hold something else like a paste, in it.

    Best regards

    Paul 2506088786?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024 in it.

  • A great Piece, well worn and loved. Lulu
