Silver filigree hat ornament. Central Anatolia / Turkey. Early 20th century.

Woman's silver filigree hat ornament (a kind of small-size 'tepelik'), to be sewn on top of a felt hat. From Anatolia (probably Central Anatolia), late-Ottoman, ca. early 20th century. With a set glass stone in its center. Diameter: 81 mm. (Inv.n° müç078 - Kavak Costume Collection - Antwerpen/Belgium).

Two similar ornaments used on felt hats, in combination with old coins (from Afyon province), or with glass beads, sequins, pompoms and coins (from a Yörük village, near Antalya).
