Do you think these have come from different parts of Yemen, Alaa? Marjorie Ransome's book has opened our eyes to regional differences! The hirz looks as if it might have been made in Sanaa. But the earrings seem different...

@Thelma, i have just checked Marjorie's book and it seems the HIRZ showcases "BADIHI" style, very likely from Sanaa indeed.
the earrings are another story: The hoops are pretty much common all over the region and in central and south Asia, but the pendants are very much yemeni in style, although there exist a very similar ones (i am talking about the square) made in gold worn in india (i need to check my references for the region), their suspension system is however very different using the plug system!
Myself i have had them from two different sources so i am not pretending they come from the same region, but for me the yemeni flavour was as strong as the MOCCA!!
Lovely pieces. Admire the work on the hirz like you wrote it gets closer to the northen region, more solid looking.
Unusual earrings, but the hirz definitely is a show stealer. The way the loops are arranged even reminds me of its Indian sisters...
You right Betty about the hoop…and they can be new …very easy to make them ...…and i think the earring might be ethiopian work to me …the diamond shape appliqué are too big and rough to be yemen…also the Fatima hands don't have loop but holes !!! Ingrid …where are you ????

Dear Angelo, When I saw these earrings, they struck me as Ethiopian, I recognized the loops as Eritrean, I am showing a set of them (antique ones) The pendants does look Ethiopian patterns, but the roughness of the work is no indication as I have seen also Yemeni work can be done roughly. The chains on the other hand are lovely and well done. Now like you said it looks like a marriage of earrings and added pendants. So it is a possibility of both counties. Gr. Ingrid.
These are antique earrings from Eritrea. I bought them as a set, but from information I got they were worn as a single earring by men. But I placed them to show the same type of work as the loops of Angelo's loops. Similar work was done on ear rings from Harar, Ethiopia with large knobs attached unfortunately I had only one know one knob without the ring. but it is sold, but if I place it Betty for sure would recognize it.
I Have had doubts regarding provenance of the earrings, all my references showed the hoops in a region and the squares elsewhere!
The filgree work is quite east African indeed no that i look at it again.
