old Lalibela cross 1

on an old Ethiopian coptic prayer book. The pages are made of goat skin, the cover is made of wood and goat skin over it. The size of the book is ca. 9,5 x 7,7 cm. It has 50 pages (25 leaves) and is written in Ge-ez. The prayer book has 4 paintings in it. As the goat leather is rather stiff, it does not stay open without holding it. The Lalibela cross is metal alloy and can be recognized easily by the four doves on each side.

    Impressive image Eva. I love the old Bible. The colours are still very bright. great background and great find. Could you show us the other paintings?

    lovely book, it can be plain wood, or covered by cloth material, or leather.
