Necklace - Saudi Arabia

This is basically the same (high silver) necklace as used in Yemen. However, the Saudi jewellery is a bit more crude in the making. The nomads but also the pilgrims from the Arab region and all over the world for that matter, are responsible for the migration of jewelry in and out of Saudi Arabia.

Thanks Ingrid. I am very much of the same opinion. The life as a Nomad in this region is hard and when looking at the Saudi jewelry, in always reminds me of the countryside (or the half-desert for that matter) when driving the 400+ kilometers from Al Khobar at the East Coast to Riyadh in the center of Saudi Arabia. By the way, Riyadh is a very beautiful city (well, that is my opinion). It is glitzy and modern but has a lot of green spaces and I like the daring designs of some of their new high-rise buildings but also some of the older ministries, etc. very much. I attach below a photo of the new upcoming Financial District of Riyadh, which is currently under construction. It looks stunning - much nicer than Dubai! Then I am attaching a photo of the old town of Riyadh, which is unfortunately falling in pieces. However, due to the fact that the old buildings have not been torn down, I assume and hope that the government will renovate this section of town soon...

My goodness Peter, Thank you for this explicit info. The funny thing is looking at the pictures, they are both a cluster of buildings, one of super skyscrapers and the other of the traditional buildings but to me it gives the same impression how they form the same group. It will be challenging to have a section repaired and brought back to its original glory(?) They look like build up of clay mixed with bricks?
