I've just came back from my trip to Argelia with some kabylian jewelry, among other things. It wasn't easy to find! I'll post them individually.
congratulations ethnic for the purshassing. you found very nice items. i believe you when you write was not easy to find. i can see that you did tiziouzou and regions around and also bejaia , the coast and some villages.

yes they are used for dayly wear, if you look at the comments i wrote about patti s and toyas necklaces regarding the " Moh atitoh " necklaces. thus are part of them too.
i m not sure but they look from the rgion boghni until the coast side " azefoun " thought, bejaia smiths do the same work.
if you got the opportunity to visite a traditional house and stay with a family ( what is easy, people are nice and generouse ) then you did something good and got nice time . did you eat couscous ??? yes sure.
the bracelets are more bejaia mountains direction elbordj, setif.
if you were private tourist, it means, you have contacts and you were traveling with the locals anonymous, you will see of course security people. it is still not calme. the is until now no go areas in kabylie and some regions around . but, you will not feel it. people are actualy nice, helpfull and looking at you as their own gast.
if you were traveling officiel with a tourist bureau, you will get with your guide a special security escort everywhere you go. except inside villages, there is gast law since thausends of years. the gast is a king. nothing will happen to you even if it is a war. the villages people will take care.
Yes Ait, I agree, people in Algeria is great, helpful and warm!! And yes, I was invited for a home made cous cous (wondeful) and a kabylian soup (I don't remember the name anymore, but it's the equivalent to the morroccan harira) mmm... delicious!!
I always travel alone, no travel agencies, and even being a woman I felt undoubtely save the whole trip in Argelia, it was only surprising for me to see so much army and police!

if you were in a big city, the name of the soupe is "chorba" in kabyl villages, called "lmerka" they serve it with :" zith ou zemour" olive oil and " aghroum " traditionel bread made athome few minutes before serving food
