An appreciation of ethnic jewellery and adornment

Ancient Indo-Tibetan Agate Bead

This beautiful bead is 2000+ years old, and was sourced in the Himalayas. The bead is covered with wearing marks. These are the small circles and crescents that are seen on the surface of the bead. These are the result of the expansion and contraction that come from being at high altitudes, with dramatic temperatures changes, over thousands of years. I will include a few more photos of the bead.

A wonderful bead! Lovely "wear" gotten by age! Very special indeed.
