  • you have to check if silver or not, there is imitation made in other countries , just metal sheet

  • it is lovely!!

  • Impressive piece, the work of the items well done, and it looks compleet as well. Wow.!

  • Ait has it right, I would think definitely not Tunisian, more to the east Libya or even Egyptian.

  • This is one of those pieces that transcends political borders and can be found in more than one country.  Look for any hallmarks...the older Libyan examples of good silver, for example, usually have the "Tripoli" hallmark.  I think Patti is correct, I have not seen this particular design in Tunisia.  However, I have seen some of the components in this example on Libyan pieces, and Ait's fabulous photo demonstrates the wide geographic area where this necklace can be found.

  • Thanks very much for your insight and help, Patti, Edith and Rabah. I looked for hallmarks, but did not find any. Yes, it was a wonderful necklace but I decided not to purchase it finally as I felt the asking price too high.

  • This is one type of necklace that I would love to add to my collection but excellent examples are few and very expensive.

  • I feel most nice items are overprices these days...:(((

  • Story of my life, Marie-Ange :) This necklace was priced at 110 moroccan dirhams per gram and weighed in the range of 230-240 grams. With all the other treasures on offer in Morocco, I decided to let this go. Hopefully there are more of these somewhere with Patti's, yours and my name on them :)
