this is really lovely! Am happy to see these lovely Fibulae! I really like Fibulas, they are a special type of jewellery1 This one seems exceptional.

It is silver overlay on a cast and finished piece of brass. The workmanship is superb, the glass is original. The little silver studs go all of the way through- the brass was drilled- though it seems they are more decorative than functional- as in holding the silver overlay onto the brass. I'm going to hazard a guess at late 1800's. Sarah, what do you think?
