Head Decoration - Syria

This head decoration is super rare and definitely museum worthy. The writing on the triangular ornaments reads as follows:- "Ya Allah" - My God.- "Ya Hafez" - My Keeper.- "Mash Allah" - Very pretty - God's creation/wish (avoiding the "evil eye").I hope that I have translated it well. • Dear Peter: A gorgeous head decoration piece. I am not certain but  the main disc may also have some writing but I am not certain as it is not written in clear letters like the ones you mentioned.  I have hasty idea of it is but I am hesitant to claim it.

For sure it is a museum piece and very valuable one too. Thanks a lot for sharing the picture..Very enjoyable to examine.

  •  I think that ; the central disc has writings that say:

    'La Ilah'- No God

    'Illa'- Except

    'Llah' - Allah

It was in scripted with a decorative way that fits the round disc

  • This is great - thank you very much for taking the time to study the piece Mustafa - much appreciated. When looking at the design of the main disc, I somehow expected that it should be more than just an elaborate feature. With kind regards. Peter

  • stunning piece of history.

    yes mustafa , it is

  • Very decorative and useful against the evil eye. Now I keep wondering is this hooked into a  scarve or hooked into the hair.? Gr. Ingrid.

  • Dear Ingrid; The lady would definitely have worn a head cover. Hence, it was attached for sure to some sort of a hat or head cover. With kind regards. Peter
