they remind me a little of the Thai spirit houses in front of their normal houses. (Have lived approx. one year in Bangkok), although those in Thailand look different (new and all golden).

Comment by Linda Pastorino on June 22, 2012 at 18:56 they are either worn (see straps) across body or arm and or on an alter. They usually had a small painting and or small terracotta diety inside with Tibetan prayers. It is about 7" H
very interesting item. (I know nothing about them - being a shrine, is it big? and is it Tibetan too?)
