From the Nile...

Some Egyptian and Nubian bracelets I collected in the past months... I love wonderfully worn silver; unfortunately some I will eventually pass on as they are just a bit to small for me to be comfortable.

  • Gorgeous collection.  I love the luminosity of the worn old silver.  Congratulations on great finds!

  • Thank you, Lynn.  Some of them will certainly remain cherished favourites!

  • Oh my, such a lovely photograph of these gorgeous worn silver treasures!

  • Beautiful bracelets. The variety of designs is very attractive. The fact that they were quite old and worn make them even more attractive pieces. Very very nice

  • Beautiful display, and lovely bracelets. Like everybodies  comments the patina is great.  The two on the bottom are also worn in the northern Ethiopia  in good silver and mixed metal both but always small sizes. Love all four designs. Good work Betty. Gr. Ingrid.

  • Thank you everyone for your kind comments.

@ Ingrid: you are right, especially in Eritrea you find a lot of Nubian bracelets. The famous ERitrean singer Faytinga often wears lovely old pieces. I am lucky with mine, I can wear both, one is a bit tight, that's why I might pass it on. The other is perfect in size (and also older) and a favourite everyday piece. They are all excellent silver quality (800+).

  • Oh yes Betty, from the Nile they are and beautiful. Congratulations, this is a nice collection indeed! Peter

  • Betty, these are lovely and the photo shows that soft silver glow which is so difficult to capture against a dark background. How did you do it?

  • Hi Betty,

    a wonderfull collection! Congratulations!

    With best regards

    Paul

  • Thank you, Paul. I wear all of them except for the Al Fayyoum cuff (on the left) which is sadly too small and therefore I eventually decided to put it up for sale.
