Silver filigree belt buckle and decorative elements for belt, most likely Eastern Turkey or Armenia, Armenian work.

Betty did you buy this? I remember when you posted the picture from the shop. Gorgeous, congratulations!! I agree it looks like the buckles I have seen identified as Armenian.

Yes, it's a really exceptionally beautiful piece with no visible flaws. I really fell in love with it and couldn't resist...(Yes Lynn and Peter, it's the same piece I showed you earlier when I had just discovered it).

According to a very knowledgable friend, the buckle might indeed come from the city of Mardin in Turkey which until 1915/16 had a large Armenian population.

If anyone knows how these buckles were born (on leather or textile), or even knows a source/picture etc., I would be very grateful.
