Close-up of the embroideries on a bridal/festive 'entari' (robe) from Izmit/Kocaeli. Late-Ottoman style, first half of 20th century. The pink silk robe is adorned with large roses in silver thread embroidery, golden spirals & metal sequins; white silk threads connect the sequins, creating branch-like motifs. This combination of materials and motifs is typical of the Kocaeli region. (Inv.n° bin012 - Kavak Collection, Antwerpen/Belgium).
