Defira pendant, Djerba (Tunisia)

A "defira" pendant. It probably was part of a larger arrangement from Djerba called "l'agal".

  • Beautiful pendant with typical Tunisian crescents and very nice colourful pendant.

  • This is absolutely fabulous, I just love it!

  • Dear Jose; This is a real beauty! Congratulations. Peter

  • Thank you very much, Lynn, Mustafa and Peter. I am very happy I found this pendant.

  • Beautiful and rare. These go for high prices on some internet site. Great to have some enamel left. Another little treasure and nicely displayed.

  • These are rare and definetely part of a head or hair ornament as you suggest. The name you give "defira" means small braid/plait

  • Great! where did you dig that up I wonder..

  • Very beautiful!

  • This one is nice, it appears to have some of the enamel intact. The ones I saw in Tunis last year were without enamel, heavy and, to me, not very attractive despite their rarity. They were very expensive, though. Alaa has a good example of one on fb right now.

  • Thank you very much. It was a lucky Ebay find.
