  Very beautiful, Peter.  Is there any possibility that this is Bosnian?  The Bosnian pieces I have, have the round stones set this way, and diamond glass stones as well.

  Dear Lynn; Many thanks for your comments. I bought the chocker out of Bulgaria but somehow it is a bit an exotic piece. Hence, Bosnia is absolutely possible. With kind regards. Peter

  Very beautiful and finely worked piece indeed. I love the filigree and the knitted chains. The way the stones are set is quite common for many parts of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. You still find old Austrian and Southern German chokers with a very similar design.

  I agree with you Betty, the way of setting stones so that they look like a flowe is common.  There is just something about the overall arrangement that reminds me of Bosnian bracelets.

  Peter,  lovely choker especially the pendant.  Actually the work is so similar to Ethiopian and Yemen work the fillegrain and the granulate and the salmiac shapes, even the braided fillegrain you find in bracelets of Ethiopia.   And the knitted cords. It is very striking how crafts have travelled. I remember also having seen painting of middle age nobility ladies wearing chokers with this impression.  The difference here from the the horn of Africa are the lovely color combination of the colored glass or stones, very warm and extra large granulate.  In short, striking piece.
