  Eva dear, a very interesting piece of hair adornment. You know it could be so much also from the RashAida  rings, looking at the decoration style but what makes it different are the traces of enamel.  Ethiopia doesn't use enamel.  It does look silver though.  So good you found your long wanted item.

  thank you Ingrid. As I said, they come actually in pairs, but I could not afford a pair. They are quite big and not cheap. So when I saw this single one, I just had to get it........ it was an item on my wish-list since years....... They wear it on the temples usually, one on each side and it is also used for perfume (I understand they insert a Piece of Cotton or so drenched in perfume)..  I have no idea how much silver is in it......I consider it as mixed material. Even if I had a pair, it would be impossible to wear them at the temples (too big).  But as a pendant it could work out for me. This particular one is probably from the Southern oasis in Morocco. The Tuareg have similar ones, but without enamel. I do not specifically collect Berber items, so this will stay an exception....... will return to the Ethiopian items

  Very beautiful Eva. Congratulations! It's great to find something you have been looking for for a long time. On the photo it looks like a good silver alloy. I also love the enamel traces. Will you wear it as a perfume holder?

  Thank you Betty, I really love this Piece  The Body part of the item Looks to me like a better silver mix than the bail, but I might be mistaken.  To be frank, I have already played with the idea of inserting a Piece of something drenched in perfume...........  (you may smile).

  Dear Eva. Glad you found your hair ring :)) There's always a great sense of achievement when you finally discover what you've been looking for. This is beautiful and it looks great against the leather ... is it a leather bag?

  Dear Thelma, thank you very much.  Yes, it is a Tuareg basket covered with goat leather, I took it with me when I was in Timbuktu years ago. Meanwhile I have started to wear the hair ring as a pendant and I put a small Piece of Cotton wool inside sprayed with a Little Shalimar perfume. It is great, I can always smell it......   I love that hair ring very much, even though it is rather big for me to wear.

  Addition: After having worn it as a pendant for 2, 3 days, I am thrilled. I must revise my first opinion about the material, it is getting more and more beautiful and Looks like fairly good silver now! I might take another photo in the next days. (Although I cleaned it upon Arrival, it did not convince me about the silver Quality, but now it really changed it s Looks  a lot in a positive way!)

  Dear Eva it does look like good silver to me.  It has the blackish white glow oppose to the yellow glow that is mostly lower silver. That yellowish glow always comes through even after poslishing, it gets also quicker dull.  So an extra bonus for you? Please do show us after the arming up of this special item.  Do the ladies always wear it like ears sticking out? or hanging downwards with the points?
