It is a very nice piece. But, you know, essentially, silver is not "carved." Tools are used to reconfirm the sheet, working from the back or front, or both. These are, respectively, repoussé and chasing. This work does not involve carving, because no material is removed. It is just mechanically moved around into place. Of course, in some industries, mechanical methods are used to excavate metal (using a burin). But this is generally called "engraving." This sort of work can be seen in the art of India, Morocco, Arabia, and Central Asia. Jamey
