Comment by Toya on July 21, 2012 at 22:59 Thank you Sarah. I agree it is the crystal bead that makes these special.
Comment by SARAH CORBETT on July 21, 2012 at 21:48 Again the white and green/orange striped beads are Kakamba beads made in Bohemia and traded to Africa.
The squrae beads is definately crystal, as for origin I lean to Iran, but possibly this is an earlier piece from India traded accross the silk route, for me it is the square crystal bead which sets this lovely strand apart.

the black beads are fabulous! very beautiful. I also like the crystal square in between, it makes it somehow special.
Comment by Toya on July 21, 2012 at 17:23 Hi Ait, Sarah thought the transparent one is cut crystal. I have seen some silmilar ones in photographs.
Comment by ait ouakli on July 21, 2012 at 16:54 nice piece toya. the orange red ones are also old glass. is the transparent one cellulosite ?? it looks like for me, the ones from 1930.
verry beautiful piece
Wonderful! My green bead is like yours.......I like the square crystal, shape rather unusual. But then you are the specialist........Berberia also had wonderful specimens but Patti I think (or you?) beat me to it! You cant win them all.
Thanks for posting.
