  • Thelma remember when we met up in Leamington Spa and I wore this silk chapan I bought whilst with Sarah in Morocco.  I received numerous stares in the street, and I have worn it numerous times and its great for evening wear.   I know you fancied one and on ebay they are not too expensive.   This picture was taken at my friend's textile gallery before Christmas.

  • Looking good Ann, good it be that you are an admirer(?) of  ethnic jewellery and. You putting it together very well and in style.

    Gr. Ingrid.

  • Yes, I love this chapan and it goes particularly well with the beautiful necklace. I think the 'looks' you mention must have been looks of appreciation! And I can see it would certainly set heads turning in the evening. The whole outfit is amazing. Must try to find a chapan!

  • Beautiful outfit, Ann! I also would have turned my head :-)

  • very nice foto ann, the indian stool or bedcover are also beautiful.

    jewelry and cloth are fantastic

  • My friend visits Pakistan/India with work and is there 4-6 times a year and comes back with these fabulous textiles - the ones hanging are large Kashmiri shawls and very reasonably priced.  I sell them also in my gallery.  Thanks for the compliments of the coat - actually I have become much more brave with my jewellery/clothes since visiting Morocco, or maybe its just as I get older?  I wear much chunkier jewellery and lots of bracelets.

  • Wonderful .. i also have a collection of Chapans from Uzbekistan and a whole pile of Kurpas ...

  • Ishvara post pictures of your chapans and kurpas please

  • will do ...soon as i get some free time

  • I remember the buying of that chapan, A. - you certainly chose correctly. I wear them, too, but then the folks round me are used to me "looking funny" - they`re pretty conservative in the W. Yorkshire village where I mostly live. I think the trick is to wear them with some attempt at aplomb.

Thelma, I buy mine online from Uzbekistan usually. As Ann says, they`re quite readily available and often cheap. Ann`s is a bit of a special, though.

A., are the fabrics real wool paisleys?
